Symbol of the city of Naples, Vesuvius is a mysterious but at the same time evocative volcano that presents itself as one of the stops not to be missed during a stay in Herculaneum.
Exciting and very suggestive, a visit to the crater of Vesuvius is surely one of those experiences to be tried. Thanks to the nature trail n° 5, known as “Il Gran Cono”, it is possible to make the itinerary that runs along the lower edge of the crater of Vesuvio.
If you love archaeology, the Ercolano Archaeological Park is the first destination to visit. As in Pompeii, in Herculaneum there are ancient excavations that date back to the Roman Empire. Herculaneum was a tourist resort of the ancient Romans.
The MAV, the Virtual Archaeological Museum, is one of the best things to see in Herculaneum. It is a different museum that allows you to discover the history of Herculaneum and its inhabitants through digital, multimedia and three-dimensional reconstructions. It’s a museum where virtual reality and tangible artifacts come together in a mind-blowing mix.
The basilica of Santa Maria a Pugliano, located in the square of the same name, is the main church of Herculaneum and the oldest church in the city and in the entire Vesuvius area. Inside the nearby archconfraternity there is the statue of the Madonna di Pugliano with Bambino Gesù, who is the saint patron of the city.
Resina Market is one of the most famous in Southern Italy and it is located in Herculaneum, where it’s possible to find everything and going shopping. In particular, it is possible to find and buy antiques and vintage items. The Resin Market offers jeans, vintage clothes and “extravagant” products: it is no coincidence that here you can also buy carnival costumes or costumes for theatrical performances!
Golden Mile Villas are summer residences of the nobles of the nineteenth century, ancient and exceptionally beautiful to look at, built with a unique design and enriched by wonderful gardens, just a few steps from the center.
Villa Campolieto is one of the most charming in this category. Inside the villa you can admire works by artists such as Fedele Fischetti, Gaetano Magrì and Jacopo Cestaro.
Villa Favorita is another of the Vesuvian villas that must be visited in Herculaneum. This villa is magnificent and is surrounded by a green and relaxing natural park with access to the sea through a Bourbon pier.
Few kilometers far from Ercolano, you can reach Portici. In this location the Royal Palace and the Botanical Garden must absolutely be visited. It’s an elegant and timeless place that will leave you speechless with its refinement.
The National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa traces the history of trains in Campania and leads to the discovery of these fabulous means of transport, from their birth to modern times. This experience is certainly captivating and can interest anyone, it’s really worth a visit.
The National Museum of Pietrarsa is located on the border between Naples and Portici, just 3 km far from Ercolano.
In Roman times Torre del Greco was a residential suburb of Ercolano and was home to numerous villas. Subsequently it underwent numerous changes and restorations, due to the various dominations, such as the Saracen, Swabian and Bourbon ones and the various eruptions of Vesuvius.
City of the sea, renamed for its flowers and coral, its historic center is characterized by a wide range of shops, bars, and numerous churches including the Basilica of Santa Croce located in Piazza Santa Croce.
The port is beautiful and panoramic, and it’s possible to admire Vesuvius, the Gulf of Naples and Capri. Meeting place for evening nightlife with typical restaurants and bars.

Ulrich2024-06-28Alles in allem, für mich als Berufsreisenden toll zu sehen das es auch Hotels gibt die wirklich noch was bieten! Richtig ☺Die Unterkunft ist wirklich sehr schön, wir haben für unsere Motorradreise einfach ein Hotel gesucht und diese Perle endeckt! (Es gibt einen Gesicherten Parkplatz!) Das Hotel ist richtig gut ausgestattet, ein ordentlicher Kühlschrank, eine tolle Küche befindet sich ebenfalls im Zimmer. Das Bett ist groß und die Matraze ist ebenfalls super! Bei vielen Hotels habe ich sonst immer Rückenschmerzen. Eine Terasse steht ebenfalls zur Verfügung, auf dieser haben wir an einem Abend unseres mehrtägigen Aufenthaltes unsere Jause genossen. Die Jause haben wir in einem Supermarkt ganz in der Nähe des Hotels gekauft. Der Hotelier hatte uns die besten Köstlichkeiten Neapels empfohlen. Auch sonst wurden wir auf Nachfrage immer unterstützt, sei es ein Taxi nach Neapel in die Stadt, Ausflugsziele etc… Wir werden wieder kommen das ist klar, Preis/Leistung stimmt hier einfach. Sowas ist für alle Reisenden ein Top-Tip! Alles in allem, für mich als Berufsreisender ein wirklich tolles, modernes und herzliches Hotel. Alles mit Liebe eingerichtet, sogar die Schilder an der Tür sind handgemacht! Wir waren im Rosmarin Zimmer. Unsere Reise geht weiter, aber kommen werden wir bestimmt wieder! Gratulation an den Hotelinhaber, selten ein Hotel mit diesem Service erlebt. ☹Hier gibt es, untypisch für Hotels - nichts zu beanstanden was uns 3 Motorradkollegen einfallen würde!

Katharina2024-06-23Empfehlenswert! ☺Tolle Ausstattung, sehr freundliche Gastgeber, schöne Dachterrasse Aufzug vorhanden. Wenige Minuten zu Fuss zum Bahnhof und zur Innenstadt. Ca. 20 Min zu Fuss zu den Ausgrabungen. ☹Lage in einem mässig attraktiven Viertel, aber einigermaßen ruhig.
Ognjen2024-06-10Exceptional ☺ Looking at the hotel from the outside, we were skeptical, but the inside is a completely different story. Everything is neat and clean, the rooms are big, the beds are comfortable, the bathroom is excellent. There is a small utility kitchen on each floor. On the first floor there is a large shared terrace. Our car has never been safer in the large fenced parking lot. The train station for visiting Naples is relatively close to the hotel. (Nobody with common sense enters Naples with their personal car!!!) However, the best of all is the receptionist Emanuella, who is a very kind and helpful being and who gave us a lot of good advice and information. ☹ There is no breakfast service which is sad.

Nice seating area outside, all accessories needed for your stay. The owners were amazing and so helpful, I rented a car and had problems with the car the owner guilio went out of his way to help me sort it, they helped me in every way possible and were very quick to respond to my messages and recommended places to eat etc Hotel central and located close to train station making it easy to get around. Susanne2024-05-28☺Neu und wirklich schön renovierter Palazzo in Ercolano, günstig gelegen für Ausflüge nach Herkulaneum, Pompeji, den Vesuv, Neapel; auch nach Sorrent und Capri kann man gut( auch mit dem Zug) gelangen. Zughaltestelle nur wenige Minuten entfernt. Die Zimmer sind wunderbar renoviert, ganz neu und schön und hochwertig gemacht. Es gibt eine große Dachterrasse für alle. Die Autos stehen in einem großen abgeschlossenen Hof. Am besten aber ist das unglaublich freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal! Vielen Dank! ☹Nichts
